Thanks for posting this – I only have the vinyl version and a poorly ripped mp3 thereof. I saw The Promise supporting Frankie Goes To Hollywood at the Glasgow Apollo and thought they were superb. Bought “Away, Away” and “Glasshouse”, then eagerly awaited the next single, which was to be called “The First of Always”. Alas, it never materialised, and I had to make do with a Betamax video recording of them playing it on some ITV kids show from Alton Towers. I contacted their record label and was told they were re-recording a harder-edged version of the song, along with a forthcoming album, produced by Steve Brown. Neither single nor album ever appeared, and they seemed to just drop out of existence. There is no trace of what happened to them on the internet (and I have looked often), but I remain hopeful that someone out there still has some mastertapes…
